MORTERATSCH GLACIER TRAIL

Tracing eternal ice on the Morteratsch Glacier Trail

Step by step along the track of the third longest glacier of the Eastern Alps. 16 posts inform visitors about the receding glacier and the mystical lifeforms in its wake. Just 50 minutes on foot from the railway station of Morteratsch, one catches sight of the day’s objective: the milky glacial lake as well as the glacier’s giant icetongue. Download the Bernina Glaciers App onto your smartphone and enjoy the accompaniment of a compelling audio text in the midst of the impressive landscape. Children can experience this unique glacial world, following the stories of the Morteratsch children’s book, and gaining exciting natural insight. At the end of the tour, there awaits a surprise for them!

«Sabi» children’s booklet

The «Sabi’s big dream» children’s books takes kids aged between 5 and 12 on a fantastic adventure. The books are designed to immerse children in the fascinating glacier world while they have fun following the story. This scavenger hunt gives them the opportunity to enjoy discovering the natural elements in the great outdoors and have a good time with their families.

Children are given a booklet containing a story and a series of puzzles to solve. The puzzles can be solved at various stages along the hiking route leading to the Morteratsch Glacier. There are several information points along the trail where children can collect a series of stamps in their booklets. At the end of the tour, when all of the stamps have been collected, children can take the completed booklet to Pontresina Tourist Information, where they will receive a prize. The booklets are available at Pontresina Tourist Information, at most hotels in Pontresina, at Camping Morteratsch and at the Pontresina Alpine show dairy.
